The Philipines Day1

We took the midnight flight to Manila Philipines because that was when the cheap fares were. We got into Manila at 4am!!! Needless to say we were all exhausted and slept in until about 9am. We got ready and walked over to the mall that was close by and had a lunch at TGIFridays. We were in heaven having American food. Heidi found a new favorite; fried macaroni and cheese. Then we went in search of some dessert. Boy are there a lot of places to get ice cream and donuts. Later I will post pictures of all the fun desserts we had.
David had researched Manila a little bit and had found that there was a section of town called "Intramuros" It was filled with cathedrals and old buildings to explore. We took a taxi and got out in front of this beautiful building. We were asked if we wanted a tour and David's first inclination is always to say no but I thought it might be fun to hear about everything instead of just wandering aimlessly. He agreed and we were all pleasantly surprised when our carriage arrived and we realized we would get our tour by horse drawn carriage.
We drove all through this part of the city. Our driver even let Emma and Eric use the prodder on the horse and they even got to hold the reins for a few minutes too. We went to this beautiful cathedral that the children thought was pretty but knew it just didn't quite feel the same as our temples. We saw lots of old buildings and lots of colleges. We were amazed at how many schools and colleges there were in the Philipines. We stopped at this beautiful park and took some pictures of the old prison without the top. It looked very uninviting. Meagan wandered all around taking pictures of everything and I mean everything.
